Thieves busted stealing 60kg 'Paddle Pops' on CCTV

Two men have been caught on CCTV stealing a 60kg Paddle Pop decoration from a Christmas display at a Gold Coast shopping centre.

In vision obtained by 9NEWS, the men are seen driving their boat up to a jetty to pinch the sweet prize from the Pacific Fair mall.

One of the men pushes and pulls the ice cream statue until it breaks away from its cement base, before he carries it to the getaway vehicle.

"Everyone was really upset about it," Pacific Fair spokeswoman Kate Dickson told 9NEWS.

But centre management wasn't about to cop it sweet and they alerted police.

Thankfully the item showed up a few days later, with a canal resident spotting the ice cream in their backyard.

"It's part of a really extended trail and a lot of money and time has gone into designing decorations that really fit the Gold Coast," Ms Dickson said.

The bandits are still on the loose.

Police hopeful someone will recognise the dessert duo from the vision and dob them in.
