Gold Coast teenager stabbed in chest on busy street

A teenage girl is in a serious condition after being stabbed in the chest on a busy street in the Gold Coast.

The assault happened after a fight reportedly broke out around 2:30pm on Monday afternoon at a bus stop on Griffith Street in Coolangatta, Brisbane Times reports.

The 17-year-old is being treated in Gold Coast hospital and is in a serious condition.

Gold Coast police are yet to confirm if the alleged attacker has been arrested, but said the girl was the only one injured in the altercation.
