Police hunt taxi passenger after driver stops indecent assault
A Gold Coast taxi driver has helped save a sleeping woman from being indecently assaulted by a fellow passenger.
The driver picked up the woman after a night out at Broadbeach on August 25, and an unknown man then climbed into the back of the taxi and asked if they were heading to Tallebudgera.
During the journey the man reached over and assaulted the woman, who was asleep in the front seat, for around two minutes.

The driver realised what was happening when he stopped to drop the woman off.
He thwarted the man's attempts to pull the woman from the taxi by driving off so quickly the man ripped the sliding door off its hinges.
Police have released taxi camera vision of the heavy-set man with short hair, and his stomach protruding through the front of a patterned short-sleeved shirt.
They have asked for anyone who recognises him to come forward.
