Queensland election candidate uses Tinder to win votes

She's probably the only person on Tinder who's not looking for a date.

Instead, Gold Coast independent candidate Saraya Beric has taken to the dating app to win votes in Saturday's Queensland election.

"Malcolm Turnbull's always banging on about innovation, so that's exactly what I'm doing," the former One Nation staffer said.

Ms Beric says she's using Tinder to get her name out there in the seat of Mermaid, with less than six days till the November 25 poll.

Her profile states she's 33, loves indie and country music and hates lying and gutless politicians.

So far, she says she's had about one hundred matches on the app.

"It's just another networking tool," she says.

Other Mermaid candidates said they won't be signing up but wish they'd thought of it first.

"If that's her social media of choice, good on her," fellow independent Mona Hecke said.

"I think I'm more for the Gumtree market".

Meanwhile, LNP incumbent, Ray Stevens, has swiped left on giving his thoughts on using Tinder for campaign purposes, refusing to make comment.

He currently holds Mermaid by a margin of 10.2%.
