PolAir captures arrest of driver in stolen car

A man who failed to stop for police while driving a stolen car across the northern Gold Coast has been arrested and charged.

Police attempted to intercept the car with stolen New South Wales registration plates at Smith Street at Parkwood around 6.40pm, but the driver failed to stop.

PolAir, the police helictoper, tracked the car as it had a close call with a bus at an intersection.

Eventually the driver stopped the car at Marine Parade in Southport and fled.

The man was tracked down High Street and onto Scarborough Street before a Dog Squad officer caught up to him and tackled him to the ground.

He was handcuffed and taken into police custody.

A 31-year-old man has been charged with a number of stealing and driving offences and will appear in court today.
