Bikie gang president charged over violent assault at Gold Coast hotel

The president of the Gold Coast Hells Angels bikie gang has been charged over the violent assault of a man at a Palm Beach hotel on Saturday.

Video released by police shows four men in an argument outside the hotel about 12pm, before one man is punched to the ground and then repeatedly punched and kicked.

A 45-year-old man was charged with affray and refused bail to appear in court tomorrow.

Police allege he is the president of the Gold Coast chapter of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang.

Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson of the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad slammed the “cowardly assault”.

"This level of violence has no place in our community and strengthens the unwavering commitment of Taskforce Maxima to continue our pursuit of members of outlaw motorcycle gangs involved in criminal activities," he said.

"The QPS will continue to use every legal mechanism available to dismantle and disrupt organised crime gangs operating in this state."

Investigations are ongoing.
