Gold Coast homeowner and partner attacked, stabbed in 'targeted' invasion

Four armed attackers remain on the run from authorities after storming a home on the Gold Coast and terrorising its inhabitants, in an incident that resulted in two people being stabbed.

The owner of the Coomera property, identified only as Andrew, told 9News two men burst into his home through the back door and ran upstairs armed with a knife and gun before turning on him.

Andrew had only just left the shower and was still naked when he tried to wrestle the men down a set of stairs, ultimately forcing them into the kitchen where he reached for his own knives to defend himself.

In the altercation that ensued, two other women had run into the home's lounge room, kicked Andrew's dog and stabbed his girlfriend in the stomach.

He said that from there the brawl spilled outside to his shed, where he broke the kitchen knife he had been using to fight the attackers off.

Nursing stab wounds to his neck, he called emergency services and was then taken to hospital along with his girlfriend in an ambulance.

The four intruders fled the scene before police swarmed the property, with detectives and forensics scouring the scene during the night.

Police are tonight still searching for the four attackers. It is believed the incident was targeted but that the offenders did not know the couple.

It is suspected they were involved with someone who may have lived at the home prior to Andrew and his partner.
