Gold Coast groom-to-be bashed on buck's night

A Gold Coast man that was bashed and stamped on at his own bucks party is in hospital.

The 45-year-old groom-to-be was drinking at Surfer’s Paradise’s Mantra Crown Towers on Saturday night when he got into an argument with one of his friends, the Gold Coast Bulletin reports.

The pair then took the fight out onto the street, where the buck’s mate allegedly knocked him down and stamped on his head.

Instead of planning his wedding, the groom-to-be is now being treated for serious head, chest and arm injuries.

The man’s friend, 37, has been charged with grievous bodily harm over the incident and is due to appear in court today.

District Chief Superintendent Des Lacy said the case was an example of how dangerous "pre-loading" with alcohol could be.

"He’s done immense damage to the relationships among the group that was there and it was right before a wedding, which is crazy," he said.

"Consuming copious amounts of alcohol prior to going out in Surfers Paradise is a bad idea and will only result in a negative outcome."
