Prominent gym owner fined over horror boat crash
Prominent Gold Coast business owner Scott Freeman has been involved in a terrifying boat crash on the Nerang River.
The incident was captured on camera, with video footage showing Freeman's high-powered boat travelling at over 50km/h before colliding with a much smaller vessel.
Freeman, the director of popular gym chain EMF, blamed the collision on a bad lapse of judgement.

He pleaded guilty over the crash in Southport Magistrates Court and was fined $7000 with no conviction recorded.
He was also ordered to pay $5000 in compensation to his victim, who sustained severe injuries and underwent lifesaving surgery.
"I just want to say sorry to those involved; it was a terrible boating accident," Freeman said.
The court heard Freeman was not speeding and returned a negative drug and alcohol test.
The victim spent nearly two weeks in the hospital with fractures to her spine and other body parts, with the magistrate telling Freeman it was something of a miracle there weren't even worse consequences.
