Girls bolt after lighting fire under overpass on summer's night

CCTV has emerged of three girls fleeing  after lighting a fire under a Melbourne overpass two weks ago.

The video released by police shows the youths huddling around a patch of grass at Roslyn Park Drive, Melton West, about 8.50pm on January 3.

Moments later, flame can be seen quickly building as the trio run from the scene along a bike path.

Police said no person or property were injured in the incident, but the blaze “spread rapidly along the creek” before being extinguished.

Investigators are now searching for the youths shown in the CCTV.
