Gillian Triggs lands UN refugee role

Former human rights boss Gillian Triggs has landed a role with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The ex-president of the Australian Human Rights Commission will be UNHCR assistant secretary-general and assistant high commissioner for protection.

Prof Triggs is an expert in international law with a long history of advocacy for human rights and refugees.
