Former PM Julia Gillard joins Victorian Labor's Daniel Andrews at fundraiser

Former prime minister Julia Gillard has joined Victorian Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews at a Labor fundraiser ahead of the state election.

Philanthropist Jeanne Pratt, the widow of late billionaire Richard Pratt, hosted the reported $5000-a-head fundraiser at her Kew mansion Raheen last night.

Ms Gillard, Mr Andrews and members of the shadow cabinet were expected at the event organised by the Progressive Business Association.

"I'm honoured that Mrs Pratt is opening her home for me and a number of other people," Mr Andrews said yesterday.

He said the night was also an opportunity to toast Gloweave clothing business founder Saul Same.

"It's a great opportunity for us to come together and say thank you to someone who is getting on in years and has been frail in recent years."
