A giant-looking spider has stolen a meteorologist's thunder during a live forecast in the US.

The arachnid made a larger-than-life television debut when it crawled across the WQAD newsroom's StormTrack 8 Eagle Eye camera during its 5pm bulletin yesterday.

Enlarged by the monitor's lens, the creepy news crasher appeared giant-sized as it crawled across a projection of Davenport, Iowa's largest city located along the Mississippi River.

Meteorologist Kelsey Woodard pressed on with her forecast but could not help but be distracted by the intruder, stopping several times after it crept into her line of sight.

"This is terrifying," she said with a laugh.
