George Michael rushed to hospital

80's pop star George Michael has been rushed to hospital after falling ill at his North London home overnight.

A friend of the singer made a frantic call to paramedics who arrived at his home and spent four hours with the 50-year-old.

Michael was then taken to hospital to undergo further treatment and tests.

His agent has refused to say what caused his mystery collapse or whether drugs were involved.

A statement said only: "George Michael was in hospital for routine tests."

Michael, who nearly died of pneumonia in 2011, has previously battled depression and drug addiction.
