‘You gave us so much joy’: Tributes flow for social media star Gary the goat
Aussie internet sensation Gary the goat has died aged six.
Owner and comedian Jimbo Bazoobi broke the news on Gary’s official Facebook page early this morning.
Jimbo confirmed Gary was euthanised last night after being diagnosed with a bleed from an acute heart tumour.
“Gary needed to go out peacefully and pain free instead of being conscious while he couldn't breathe,” Jimbo wrote to the page’s 1.7 million followers.
“We'll all miss you Gary. You gave so much happiness to so many people. Rest in peace, mate.”
Tributes have been flowing on social media for the beloved goat.
One Facebook user wrote, “Gary brought a lot of love and joy through you and I’m utterly destroyed by this news!”
“RIP to the maddest c--- in the southern hemisphere,” another wrote.
Gary gained popularity in December 2012 after he and Jimbo were charged with damaging vegetation without authority after eating grass and leaves in a city park at Sydney’s Circular Quay.
