Pet galah gets own cabin after stowing away on cruise ship

A Brisbane family's pet galah caused quite a flap when he flew the coop and stowed away on a cruise ship. 

Crew on board the Sea Princess didn't discover "Harri" the stowaway until the ship was nearing New Zealand. 

Harri's presence on board caused a mini biosecurity crisis. The ship could only dock in New Zealand if Harri was either euthanised or held in a secure space. 

Luckily Sea Princess crew found a spare cabin for Harri otherwise he was a dead duck. 

But here's where this bird-brained yarn gets weird.

Harri went missing from his Brisbane home a few days before his owners, Brett and Michelle Cozzi, were due to depart on a cruise holiday of their own. 

Did Harri reckon he'd join the family holiday?

He might have - it's just that he stowed away on the wrong ship. 

While Harri was cruising on the Sea Princess, the Cozzi family was aboard the Pacific Aria.

Thanks to a microchip identifying Harri's owners, crew on board the Sea Princess contacted the Cozzi family to let them know Harri was safe and sound and appeared to be enjoying his holiday. 

The Cozzi's arrived back in Brisbane today and Harri's ship gets back into port on Sunday. 

It'll be a family reunion after the family holiday.

Can't really blame Harry for boarding the wrong ship - he's a bit of a galah.
