Fury over Pakistan attack: Abbott

Prime Minister Tony Abbott can't find the words to describe the "grief and fury" felt after a deadly Taliban raid on a Pakistani school.

Around 130 people, mostly children, were shot dead when insurgents stormed a Peshawar school on Tuesday, roaming from classroom to classroom.

"It is simply impossible to put into words the mixture of grief and fury that must be felt by people in Pakistan and indeed around the word at this latest terrorist atrocity," Mr Abbott told ABC radio.

He hopes the bloodshed will remind people who might otherwise be attracted to terrorism that it is never right to kill innocent people.

It was encouraging that fewer and fewer people were trying to justify terrorist activities using religion "because it is simply evil", he said.
