From caravan man to Aussie Keno king, 70-year-old man hits the jackpot

A 70-year-old Melbourne man has become an instant millionaire, winning a Keno jackpot of more than $1.4 million dollars.

John Howard, aptly nicknamed "the prime minister", lives in a Springvale caravan park and plans to continue doing so despite his big win, the odds of which were one in eight million.

"I don't think I'll be changing that much," Mr Howard told A Current Affair.

"I'm just a happy-go-lucky fella."

The former tow truck driver turned power line technician also plans to keep working for the next "40 years".

Mr Howard, who has never been married, said he hoped the publicity would help him find love, and if he's successful in that endeavor, he'll consider buying the house his mother lived in before she died.

"If I get a bride, we'll see what happens," he said.

"A nice honest girl, someone to look after me and be true."

There have been six new Keno millionaires since January this year. Three winners from NSW and the other three from Queensland, including a massive $2.3 million jackpot.

Mr Howard's tip for Keno punters is to play the same numbers.

"Use the same numbers all the time… once you change your numbers, that's when your numbers come up."
