Fresh advice on Medicare spending

The federal government will get detailed advice on the rising cost of Medicare next month.

The Parliamentary Budget Office is due to release within three weeks its report into the drivers of Medicare spending over the past decade and projections of spending, a Senate estimates committee was told on Monday.

The report will help the government develop a new policy on Medicare after the co-payment was shelved.
