Fraser Island bushfire: Firefighters successfully shift blaze front
Firefighters on Queensland's Fraser Island have successfully managed to shift the fire front two kilometres away from a resort using aerial bombers, allowing staff to remain there overnight.
The Queensland Government has ordered a review into the response to the bushfire, which has been burning on the island north of Noosa for more than six weeks.
Advice issued yesterday stated part of the fire was located approximately two and a half kilometres east of Kingfisher Bay Resort and was heading in a south-easterly direction.
While another part of the fire was approximately four kilometres to the west of Happy Valley and travelling in a southerly direction.
The fire has now chewed through 80,000 hectares, or 50 per cent, of the island.
More than one million litres of water have been dumped on the blaze.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in Parliament said the state's Inspector-General for Emergency Management, Alistair Dawson, would examine the state's preparedness and response to the fire.
"K'gari is beloved not just here but all around the world, which makes the sight of its burning so painful," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"It's understandable those who love the island want to be assured that everything that could be done to protect it has and is being done.
"That's why I can confirm that the Inspector General Emergency Management has been instructed to conduct a full review."

Weather conditions continue to exacerbate fire and smoke conditions, as an extreme heatwave persists.
The blaze is believe to have been sparked by an illegal campfire.
Travel to the island remains restricted.
Properties are not under direct threat at this time.
