Frances Abbott spills on two-week whirlwind engagement

Frances Abbott has revealed all about her shock engagement to former Olympian, Sam Loch.

Speaking exclusively to Stellar Magazine, Ms Abbott said Loch proposed in the kitchen just two weeks after the pair met.

“He said, ‘Why aren’t you asking me why I’m holding champagne?’ So I said, ‘OK ... why are you holding champagne?,” she recounted to the Newscorp publication.

“He said, ‘Well, I thought we could drink it after I asked you to marry me’.”

The loved-up couple are now living together, and reportedly plan to marry next year.

Ms Abbott told Stellar her mother had some concerns about the speediness of the engagement.

But her father, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, approved of Loch straight away.

“I think meeting Tones can be quite intimidating for anyone, but that’s what I love about Sam,” she said.

“He’s so grounded, and so settled in his own skin, it felt totally natural…Dad liked him.

“Dad likes everyone, but I think he was particularly — well, Dad is a rower. He was like, straight away, ‘Let’s talk about rowing.’”

Loch, 34, rowed for Australia in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and is now pursuing a career as a weightlifter.

Ms Abbott is also passionate about a fitness and building muscle as a budding bodybuilder.

Her Instagram account, Not Another Fitness Blogger, has just over 10,000 followers.
