Four teens arrested following dramatic police pursuit through Melbourne CBD

Four joyriding teenagers have been arrested in the Melbourne CBD after they were cornered by police in a car park.

Police allege a car had been stolen in Craigieburn earlier this afternoon and was followed by the police helicopter at around 1pm before police cars became involved.

A badly-damaged white Holden Commodore was found on the corner of Elizabeth and Lonsdale Streets just before the arrests were made.

The four teenagers, aged either 16 or 17, were arrested at around 2pm after allegedly taking the unregistered Commodore for a joyride with stolen number plates.

The group tried to flee to an underground car park but were quickly caught. Some of the boys reportedly cried as they were led away by police in handcuffs.

The teenagers have been questioned at Melbourne West police station with charges expected to be laid this evening.
