The high-profile former Mayor of Joondalup has said he will fight a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm following a dispute with his neighbour.

Troy Prickard was arrested after the argument in Kingsley on Sunday, which is believed to have been sparked by dirt in a driveway.

CCTV shows the victim being sprayed with a hose, with the victim claiming Mr Pickard appears just outside the frame, and that the dispute went on for several minutes.

Police allege Mr Pickard then threw a hot drink at his neighbour.

“I will be pleading not guilty to the charge and will be vigorously defending the matter when it comes before the court,” Mr Pickard told 9NEWS.

His neighbour Mark said he sought medical treatment after the hot water was thrown in his eyes.

He wasn’t charged after police reviewed the CCTV.

Mr Pickard is due to face court next month.
