Ford Mustang chase mayhem

A stolen Ford Mustang was at the centre of a dangerous police car chase today, which came to a crashing end on the O-Bahn busway.

The chase started on the Yorke Peninsula, then continued as the car sped along the Copper Coast Highway and was pursued by police.

The vehicle was then monitored by a crew aboard a police aircraft, as it passed through Two Wells and Virginia before it reached a home at Elizabeth North.

Officers moved in, arresting two 14-year-olds and two 16-year-olds. 

However, the car sped off with two people still inside, before it crashed on the O-Bahn tracks, leading to hours of delays as a crane was called in to remove the vehicle.

The two teenagers allegedly in the car fled from the tracks, into the backyard of a neighbouring home before being arrested.

They are now facing charges of illegal use of a motor vehicle.

Police believe the suspects are members of a youth gang. A taskforce is investigating the incident.
