Footballer Tyrone Vickery apologises for striking Eagles ruckman

AFL footballer Tyrone Vickery has made an unreserved apology to Eagles ruckman Dean Cox after striking the veteran during Friday night’s game.

Vickery contacted his club this afternoon and in turn contacted the media to show his remorse publicly.

Vickery was reported for flooring Cox and says he’s tried to make contact with him in the past 24 hours, without luck.

Instead, he’s expressing that regret to the entire football world.

It’s unlikely to save Vickery from a hefty suspension.

He’ll learn his fate at the Match Review Panel tomorrow, if not at the tribunal on Tuesday night, with the very real possibility of a season-ending ban.
