Fog disrupts 45 Perth Airport flights

Perth Airport is working through a backlog of flights after heavy fog disrupted 45 arrivals and departures overnight.

Operations resumed at 4.30am and the fog had completely cleared by mid-morning but delays will be experienced for several hours.

"Passengers travelling today are urged to check the status of their flight with their airline for the most up-to-date information," the airport said in a statement.

It said fog was a relatively uncommon occurrence at Perth Airport, with operations affected for only a few days each year.

In September 2006, heavy fog forced an Airbus A330 arriving from Singapore to abort several landings and resulted in the interim flight planning fuel policy for Perth being changed.
