Fears of flash flooding as south-east Queensland drenched

Holiday-makers have woken up to a soggy Gold Coast this morning.
A surface trough has caused heavy rainfall at the border of Queensland and New South Wales, causing havoc for campers and flooding parts of the Pacific Highway and a number of private roads.
More than 270mm was recorded at Tweed Heads overnight while Coolangatta was drenched with 147mm in just one hour this morning.
Rain is expected to continue in the region throughout the day with strong and damaging winds expected to develop along the coast between Brisbane and Coffs Harbour.
Motorists are reminded to stay clear of flood waters.
