Body found in search for missing Sydney rock fisherman

A man's body has been found in the search for an elderly rock fisherman who went missing from a fishing spot in Sydney's eastern suburbs. 

Police were alerted to the discovery about 1km off Botany Bay about 10.40am today, and have since retrieved the body. 

Last night, a 79-year-old man was confirmed missing after another fisherman found his belongings at the Dover Heights spot about 9.30pm.

The 79-year-old's car was discovered nearby and his family confirmed his disappearance, police said.

Police are yet to formally identify the body, and the death does not appear to be suspicious.
