Firework explodes just metres from fast food worker in Florida
A restaurant worker in Florida got the shock of their life when a firecracker exploded just metres away from the booth they were sitting in.
Surveillance footage released by the Broward Sherriff’s Office yesterday shows the moment a firework is thrown in the Wendy’s eatery at Deerfield Beach.
The incident happened on July 5, with the explosive making a 17cm hole in the wall of the restaurant.
According to the Broward and Palm Beach Sun Sentinel, detectives think a band of teens or young males were responsible for throwing the firework into the restaurant.
A sheriff’s office spokeswoman Joy Oglesby said the situation could have been much worse.
“Anytime when you have something exploding, lots of things can go wrong,” she told the Sun Sentinel.
“It could have set the restaurant on fire or it could have burned the woman by the door. It definitely could have been a situation where we had injuries or deaths.”
