Firefighter injured in suspicious Vic fire

A firefighter has been injured while battling a suspicious house fire in Melbourne.

The single-storey unoccupied brick house in Moorabbin was well ablaze by the time fire crews arrived at about 1am (AEDT) on Wednesday.

Neighbouring properties were also under threat, the MFB says.

The fire was brought under control in about half-an-hour, but took about two hours to extinguish.

The blaze caused about $300,000 damage and has been deemed suspicious, the MFB says.

Neighbouring properties were not damaged.

A firefighter sustained a deep cut to his thumb while fighting the fire and was taken to hospital for treatment.
