Geitz captained the Queensland Firebirds in a thrilling double extra-time win in this year’s trans-Tasman netball grand final.

She was nine weeks pregnant at the time and sought medical advice deciding to play.

Netball Australia has announced that Geitz won’t be playing in the Constellation Cup against New Zealand in October.

The Australian captain will be taking a break from netball for at least a year, meaning she will miss the next national netball season.

Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander said the team is excited for the couple and supported Geitz’s decision to step away from the court.
