Residents returning home following blaze in Sydney's north

Fire crews have extinguished a fire which burned through eight hectares of land in north Sydney today.

The blaze on Deepwater Road in Castle Cove burned out of-of-control this afternoon, threatening a number of homes which were evacuated.

Firefighters from the Rural Fire Service and from Fire and Rescue NSW managed to bring the fire under control and it has now been extinguished.

No property was damaged in the fire.

Up to 30 people evacuated their homes earlier in they day.

Authorities suspect the fire was a re-ignition of a hazard reduction burn conducted on Thursday.
