NSW bushfires: Fire conditions easing after scorching day

Fire conditions across NSW are easing after a day of scorching temperatures and strong winds.

An uncontained bushfire is burning in bushland north of Patonga, in the Brisbane Water National Park area. 

A watch and act warning remains in place, with residents in Pearl Beach and Umina advised to monitor conditions.

"Conditions are starting to ease," the RFS said.

"A southerly change will move through the area over the next few hours.

"As the change moves through it may cause the fire to flare up in some areas."

Patonga Drive is closed at Pearl Beach.

A watch and act message has been downgraded to advice for a fire in Neath and Abermain, in the Hunter Valley region. 

The fire has burnt more than 800 hectares.

Cessnock Road is closed between Forbes St and Neath Road, near the Neath Hotel.

A cool change is expected to bring some relief this evening but strong winds may increase the fire risk. 

People in Pelaw Main, Weston, Chinaman's Hollow and Abermain are advised to monitor conditions and be alert for smoke and embers.
