Out-of-control bushfire nears homes in Picton

The emergency warning for an out-of-control blaze heading towards homes in the suburb of Picton, east of Bunbury, has been downgraded.

An emergency warning issued earlier for people in the vicinity of Estuary Drive, Old Coast Road, Koombana Drive and Forrest Highway, has since been downgraded to watch and act.

The fire is still out of control and unpredictable but has reduced in intensity.

Residents who can evacuate should do so or prepare to defend their homes.

The flames are sending thick smoke across Forrest Highway causing a hazard to motorists.
