Final days of toddler Mason Lee to be examined by State Cabinet

Two reviews into the final days of Queensland toddler Mason Lee are set to be examined by State Cabinet.

The toddler was just 21 months old when he died from peritonitis, caused by a ruptured small intestine, at his Caboolture home last year.

Mason’s mother and former partner have been charged with manslaughter and failing to provide him with medical treatment, as well as a third man who lived at the home.

News Corp reports major system failings will be the subject of the review, with the Palaszczuk Government in possession of the Child Death Review Panel report and Queensland Family and Child Commissioner Chery Vardon’s report into whether departments failed in their own reviews.

Both of the reports will be publicly released, but not until court proceedings have been completed due to risk of prejudicial interruptions.
