$1.5b high-roller venue unveiled in final concept plans for Sydney's Barangaroo casino
James Packer's Sydney casino is a step closer with the final concept plans unveiled today.
The Barangaroo development will feature a $1.5b high roller venue and hotel that will tower over the harbour.
The eighth concept plan was revealed today that includes a glass tower - a combination casino for high rollers, and hotel.
“We’re definitely hoping this is it, we’ve been working on it for a long time,” Andrew Wilson from Lend Lease said.
If approved, the structure will be the city’s second highest after Sydney Tower.
It's a far cry from the controversial first version - a hotel jutting out into the harbour which was forced back to the drawing board by the State Government after a community outcry.
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned on Barangaroo, there are a lot of different opinions as to what should be here on the project,” Mr Wilson said.
“But we continue to listen and we continue to listen and we continue to respond.”
