Fight erupts after delivery drivers filmed parking in disabled spot

A violent fight has been captured on camera after a delivery driver parked in a Gold Coast disabled bay.

The video, uploaded by Griffith University graduate and self-described "budding music journalist" Marlena, shows the two delivery men parking the truck in the marked disabled spot.

Minutes after the two men leave their truck, a parking inspector arrives and sticks a $315 fine under the windscreen wiper.

"Can't wait ‘til the boys come back and see that," says the man holding the camera - Marlena's friend, Bert, who was just out for lunch when he noticed the illegal parking.

When they do return, Bert points out the fine to them.

"$315 boys, look at that," he said.

One of the delivery drivers, apparently taking umbrage with being filmed, dashes between the truck and the car in front of it to attack Bert.

A voice can be heard warning Bert to stop filming.

The two drivers then leave, but not before Bert informs them he will be reporting the incident as an assault to police.

"Good to see your day is more important than ours," one of the drivers says.

Marlena, who has cerebral palsy and requires a wheelchair, posted a message of her own following the footage.

"What might be one minute for you may mean 30 minutes of me passing many normal parks as I can not get out of the back of my van," she writes.

"Remember, it only takes a minute for a ticket to be written as well."

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate warned non-disabled drivers to leave disabled spaces for "the right people to park there".

The matter has been referred to police.
