Fifth man charged in alleged Sydney kidnap conspiracy

A fifth Sydney man has been charged with the alleged kidnapping of a North Shore last month man, and conspiracy to kidnap another.

The arrests follow an investigation into an alleged kidnap of a 20-year-old man on October 14, when he was allegedly confronted at midday by two men at Gore Creek Reserve at Greenwich, before being forced into a car and taken to a house in St Leonards.

The man was allegedly threatened and assaulted, before he was released, police were told.

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives launched Strike Force Bindowan and on Friday arrested four men at a service station at West Ryde, just before 2pm.

A 33-year-old man was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to a dog bite, while three others – aged 27, 31 and 32 – were arrested.

Police then executed a search warrant a unit at Macquarie Park a short time later, arresting a 24-year-old man.

All four men were charged and remain before the courts.

On Saturday, detectives attended Westmead Hospital and charged the man who had been bitten by the dog with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage.

He was refused bail to appear at a bedside court hearing the same day, where he was formally refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
