Fifth person charged over Brayden Dillon murder after airport arrest

A fifth person has been charged over the 2017 murder of Sydney teenager Brayden Dillon.

At about 11am today, investigators arrived at Sydney International Airport and arrested Abdul Abu-Mahmoud as he got off a flight from Thailand.

Brayden, 15, was shot in the head as he lay in bed at his home in Moresby Avenue in Glenfield on April 14 last year.

He was treated by NSW Paramedics at the scene before being taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital, where he later died.

Four others – including alleged gunman Conrad Craig, 27 - have already been charged over the murder and are currently before the courts.

A man and two women, including Mr Craig's sister, are facing charges including being an accessory after the fact of murder.

Abu-Mahmoud, 33,  had a warrant for his arrest and was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

Investigations by Strike Force Wongala, set up in the wake of the teen’s death, are ongoing.

One theory being investigated is whether Brayden's death was retribution for a brawl involving his older brother Joshua Dillon, who was charged with murder over the stabbing of a teenager in Panania in 2016.

Abu-Mahmoud was refused bail and will appear before Central Court tomorrow.
