Ferocious fire rips through family home

Fire investigators are determining whether paint thinners caused a ferocious fire that destroyed a family home overnight in the Logan suburb of Browns Plains.

Neighbours raised the alarm just after 7pm yesterday, but by the time fire crews arrived there was little that could be done to save the property.

Vision obtained by 9NEWs shows intense flames leaping from the property.

Thankfully for the family who live at the property, no one was home at the time of the blaze.

The owners were undergoing renovations, but the home has been gutted by the flames.

Neighbours were concerned their own homes were going to catch fire but fire crews managed to contain the blaze.

A crime scene has been declared and police are continuing to guard the property.

Forensic investigators will spend today moving through the scene to determine a cause of the fire.
