Fed Labor looks at NSW donation plan

The federal opposition will consider a NSW Labor plan to disclose political donations within seven days.

NSW Labor leader Luke Foley revealed on Sunday his party would disclose the source and amount of donations within a week under a system expected to be operational before the next state election.

Federal infrastructure spokesman Anthony Albanese welcomed the plan, saying the announcement was "very significant".

"We'll have a look at this proposal ... Labor consistently has supported transparency when it comes to declarations of donations and when it comes to all of these issues," he said.

While making the announcement at the NSW Labor conference at the weekend, Mr Foley challenged NSW Premier Mike Baird to do the same.
