THE 2018/19 FINAL BUDGET OUTCOME: Key Figures

* The federal budget outcome for the 2018/19 year was a deficit of $700 million.

* This is a $13.8 billion improvement on the 2018/19 budget forecast.

* This is the coalition government's sixth consecutive budget deficit.

* Underspend on the National Disability Insurance Scheme was $4.6 billion.

* Company tax receipts were $4.6 billion higher than the 2018/19 budget estimate, mainly due to stronger mining profits.

* Superannuation fund taxes were $1 billion higher than estimated, due to better performing retirement savings accounts.

* GST receipts were $2.3 billion lower due to softer consumption and dwelling investments.

* Real GDP grew by 1.9 per cent in 2018/19, softer than the 3 per cent growth forecast in the 2018-19 budget.

* Employment grew by 2.6 per cent through the year to end-June 2019.

* Wage price index increased by 2.3 per cent through the year to the June quarter 2019.
