Hundreds of cannabis plants seized in Melbourne's north

More than 500 cannabis plants have been seized after police discovered what they allege is a large "sophisticated set-up" at a factory in Melbourne's north yesterday.

Police discovered the plants after they executed a search warrant at a factory on Leo Street in Fawkner about 3pm.

It's estimated the 566 cannabis plants have a potential street value of $1.4 million.

More than 500 cannabis plants were seized.  Victoria Police

Two St Albans men, aged 20 and 45, were arrested at the scene.

The duo have been charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis and have been bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on July 30.
