Father Bob shocks with early-morning swears
Father Bob Maguire, the terse but benevolent South Melbourne priest, was dropping some knowledge on the hosts of Weekend Today when he decided to drop some S-bombs too.
Father Bob was appearing on the morning news show to promote his latest Pozible campaign to support the homeless and needy, launched with a rap video starring the unorthodox priest.
The rap parody "Bob Walks" reprises Kanye West's "Jesus Walks", giving the hip-hop track a South Melbourne slant — all in a day's work for the charitable clergyman.
The shock came when Fr Bob, encouraged by Cameron Williams to get "get off yo white ass and raise a million dollars", burst out with some of the bluer lines from the Kanye track.
"If I can get off my ass and perform like this — I'm starting to sound like this aren't I?" the gruff priest said before spitting out the line: "So 'we eat pieces of s--- like you — we eat pieces of s--- for breakfast'. Look at this".
Host Leila McKinnon was unable to contain her laughter at the early-morning swears spat from the Father's mouth.
"A bit much that," said the cheeky 79-year-old priest.
