Body found inside house after fatal fire

A person has died in a fire that has destroyed a house in Queensland's south.

Police and emergency services were called to an address in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, late on Wednesday night after reports of a fire.

They arrived at the house in Harlaxton at 11.15 pm to find the property well alight.

A body was found inside the house and an investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the blaze.

The identity of the deceased person has not yet been confirmed.

A crime scene has been set up with fire investigators and police expected back at the house today.
