Family of Darwin hit and run victim Jack Sultan-Page speak out

The family of young Darwin hit and run victim have said they'll never be able to forgive the driver who struck their little boy and left him for dead.

They said he's a coward, who robbed adventurous and fun loving Territorian Jack Sultan-Page the best years of his life. 

Jack's parents, Faye Sultan and Michael Page, have been left devastated by the loss of the their nine-year-old boy after he was struck by a car on Saturday.

They accompanied Jack to hospital, gave him a kiss and said goodbye.

"One minute we've got him, next minute he's gone," Mr Page told 9NEWS.

"What do you say to little kids, how you supposed to explain it to little kids?" Ms Sultan said.

The extended family has rallied around them – as have total strangers, but through all their painful grief, there's also a deep sense of anger.

"Worst thing about is the bloke left him for bloody dead on the f---ing ground," Mr Page said. 

Who was driving and why they didn't stop is a matter for police and ultimately the courts, but a car registered to a business at Berrimah was seized in Rosebery yesterday.

The occupant – taken away by paramedics – is Matty Alexander, a technician at the company.

He was treated in hospital for head injuries but has since been discharged into the custody of police and is now being interviewed by Major Crime detectives. 

At the scene of the tragedy on Davoren Circuit Jack's shrine has grown hidden among the floral tributes and teddy bears, a few handwritten letters from his neighbourhood mates.

Children at his school, Moulden Park Primary, have been offered counselling.
