Failed migrants could be kicked out faster

Failed asylum seekers and foreign nationals refused visas could find it much harder to stay in Australia under changes aimed at easing pressure on an overworked tribunal.

A review into to Administrative Appeals Tribunal, led by former High Court Justice Ian Callinan, is expected to recommend restricting the introduction of late evidence by people fighting deportation.

The review, to be handed to Attorney-General Christian Porter this week, found the AAT is a bloated bureaucracy bogged down by huge increases in migration and refugee cases, The Courier-Mail reported on Tuesday.
