Extinction Rebellion lock down parliament with glue, bike locks

Members of the Extinction Rebellion group have caused further disruption in the name of the environment by locking down Brisbane's parliament.

Protesters strapped themselves to gates, and blocking streets, prompting the deployment of police.

One woman glued herself to parliament's gates, and another man did so to the footpath - both being dragged away by officers.

Another woman put a bicycle lock around her neck.

The protest started peacefully out the front of parliament.

"To really draw attention to the fact we have a lot of money changing hands between the fossil fuel industry and the government," the group's Hope Foley said.

But they ultimately took to the streets, sparking the confrontation with police.
