Extend SA bush heart health program: RFDS

A bush heart health program helping to tackle rural deaths in South Australia should be rolled out nationally, the Royal Flying Doctor Service says.

The program links city doctors with country patients who are assessed remotely before being flown to Adelaide for surgery.

The RFDS says it helps tackle a lack of on-the-ground resources and increases heart attack survival rates.

It will use a public hearing into chronic disease in Adelaide on Friday to push for the national expansion of the program.
