* There was "no reason to believe" Special Minister of State Mal Brough breached any ministerial standards despite being investigated by police, Attorney-General George Brandis told the Senate.

* "Integrity is uppermost in everything I have ever done and everything I will ever do," Brough told the lower house in response to repeated questioning from shadow attorney-general Mark Dreyfus.

* Brough declined a Labor invitation to resign.

* The government used its numbers to shut down a Labor attempt to censure Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over "his complete lack of judgement" in appointing Brough a minister and then failing to sack him.
